"As we continue to engage our school community in clarifying and developing The Arden Way, we are investing energy into student leadership. Ms. May, after her year in Australia, shared with us how the school she taught at had proactively developed student leaders who were involved in many areas of school life. Keeping this approach in mind, we decided to implement a similar focus. Ms. May and Ms. Wolters invited grade 4 and 5 students to apply for volunteer positions as "Arden Ambassadors." Many students applied and eight students were selected for the first three months. They were invited to get to know each other more through their first task: sharing responsibility in creating the backdrop for the Christmas Concert. Ms. Lambert was very appreciative of their efforts. In the photo, the first group of Arden Ambassadors are being thanked by Ms. Lambert in our monthly assembly."

At our monthly staff meeting on November 14th, teachers took time to take a look at our draft poster on "The Arden Way." Part of our focus this year is on clarifying and defining our school culture through The Arden Way. We have been working since last year on identifying what this means to us and to our students. We are using the letters of ARDEN to help us specify what it means. A= Always try our best. R= Respect our community. D=Dream big and celebrate. E=Enthusiastic and encouraging. N=Nurture and care for each other.
Based on our conversations, we are nearly finished our posters. We plan on finalizing it by our winter break and launching it with our students in January. Our grade five students will have the first opportunity to give feedback on what areas of The Arden Way we need to work on first.
